Building Faith is a transformative initiative led by the Allen County Scottsville Faith Coalition, designed to follow in the footsteps of successful models like Habitat for Humanity. This program focuses on bringing the community together to build homes for those in need, fostering an environment of support and cooperation. By providing safe and affordable housing, Building Faith not only helps families achieve stability and security but also empowers the entire community.
How It Works:
- Community Selection: Families in need of housing are selected based on their level of need, willingness to partner with the program, and ability to handle the responsibilities of homeownership.
- Volunteer Mobilization: Community members, local businesses, and organizations are invited to contribute their time, skills, and resources to help build homes.
- Construction: With the guidance of experienced builders and coordinators, volunteers come together to construct quality homes. Families who will live in the houses also participate in the building process, contributing "sweat equity."
- Homeownership Education: In addition to physical construction, Building Faith provides future homeowners with training on financial responsibility, home maintenance, and other essential skills to ensure long-term success.
